CONGRESS RATIONALE

Diabetology, andrology and reproductive and sexuality medicine, and endocrinology are closely interconnected disciplines of human medicine, sharing multiple pathophysiological mechanisms and describing disorders of multifactorial aetiology, frequently associated. In particular, alterations in glyco-insulinemic, metabolic and cardiovascular metabolism are highly prevalent in patients with gonadal, reproductive and sexual dysfunction, as well as in patients with pituitary and adrenal endocrine disorders, such as acromegaly, growth hormone deficiency and Cushing's syndrome; on the other hand, gonadal, reproductive and sexual disorders are highly prevalent in patients with diabetes and pituitary and adrenal endocrine disorders. In addition, lifestyle-related metabolic pathological conditions, such as obesity, are of increasing interest today, and consequently the importance of nutrition and exercise as factors in the prevention and treatment of these pathologies represent topics of enormous interest that will be presented in an innovative update both as such, and as closely connected as complications and possible therapeutic solutions to gonadal, reproductive and sexual dysfunctions. In addition to the pathology per se, the specific pharmacological therapies used in the various treatments also have an impact on metabolism, fertility and sexuality; the most recent data from the international literature will therefore be shown, which may be of support in clinical practice, particularly in the management of metabolic, reproductive and sexual sequelae. Ample space will also be devoted to the pivotal role of lifestyle modifications and nutraceutical supplementation. The programme of the event includes sessions with talks by experts from national reference centres for the pathologies covered by the congress, who will present the latest diagnostic therapeutic evidence and new treatment perspectives across these areas of medicine; the programme also includes debates and round tables on controversial and/or multidisciplinary topics, with moments of plenary and interactive discussion. The Congress is primarily aimed at healthcare professionals, in particular andrologists, urologists, gynaecologists, obstetricians, endocrinologists, diabetologists, nutritionists, internal medicine doctors, oncologists, psychologists/psychiatrists, nurses, general practitioners and biologists, but also to all professionals wishing to deepen their knowledge of the pathophysiological link between diabetes, gonadal, reproductive and sexual dysfunctions, and pituitary and adrenal endocrinopathies, and to keep abreast of the latest therapeutic innovations. The event is also strongly geared towards the training and active involvement of students at all levels of higher education, who wish to supplement their studies by incorporating the topics covered by the congress.
